The eight best volleyball teams for Thursday’s pool play will compete this evening in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference volleyball tournament championship bracket at Southeastern Community College in Burlington.The Highland Huskies are one of the eight teams competing for conference bragging rights, making the championship bracket as the runner up of pool four.

The Huskies lone loss Thursday came versus the top seeded Pekin Panthers, falling in three sets (22-20, 13-21, 15-13). Prior to the match, Highland won three set matches over the Iowa Mennonite School (16-21, 21-13, 15-12) and the Danville Bears (14-21, 21-11, 15-5) in their first two tournament games. The Huskies swept the Columbus Wildcats (21-14, 21-3) to advance to the championship bracket.

The Huskies are set to meet the New London Tigers, the first place seed from pool four, in the conference tournament quarterfinals. New London won all of their four pool play matches in straight sets, holding their opponents to single digit points in six of their eight games played on Thursday in Winfield.

First matches of the SEISC volleyball championship bracket are set to serve at 5 p.m. at Southeastern Community College in Burlington.
