A window preservation specialist is holding a presentation in Washington tonight. Bob Yapp will be discussing the value of historic wood windows, energy efficiency and how to restore windows. Yapp says there is a misconception that windows are a big part of energy efficiency for a building, when they make up at most 10 percent of energy costs.

Yapp adds he got into preservation when he was 17 and bought a house with his friend and began fixing it up. Since then, he’s completed 163 ground up restorations.

Yapp’s presentation titled “Old Windows Aren’t a Payne, They’re a Goldmine” begins at 7 p.m. at the Washington Public Library, for the full interview with Yapp click here.
