For the first three years of his college football career 2012 Washington graduate Brock Kimball has made stellar marks in the classroom. Kimball has been named to the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAA) Academic Honor Roll each of his first three years in college.

In order to be named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, a student athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

During this week’s PM Sports Page, Kimball discussed the challenges of balancing his school work while playing college football, “It’s a lot tougher than it was in high school, I can tell you that,” Kimball said, “I played three sports in high school and the time need to do that is not even comparable to how it is in college. It takes a lot out of you.”

Kimball adds he is proud of his academic success at Missouri Western, “Obviously (academics) comes first and its the one thing you have to keep reminding yourself of on the collegiate level,” Kimball said, “You have practices and all different types of classes overlap. You just have to keep remembering the reason you are in college in the first place is to get a degree.”

Kimball is majoring in business management and pre-engineering and hopes to one day work for an engineering firm. Kimball and the Griffons will make their home debut this Saturday against the Central Oklahoma Broncos. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Spratt Stadium in St. Joseph, MO.
