The Lone Tree Lions got back on the winning track Friday night in impressive fashion, blasting Van Buren, Keosaqua 62-36 to celebrate their annual homecoming.

Lone Tree went crazy on the offensive side of the football rolling up 526 yards of total offense on the Warriors, including 455 on the ground. Three different Lion running backs scored multiple touchdowns in the game led by Jared Hudson, he finished with 241 yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries. Hudson’s longest scoring run was an impressive 57 yard romp. Caleb Christian also hit the century mark for Lone Tree amassing 127 yards on a dozen carries to go along with a pair of touchdowns. Trey Pierson also scored three times on the ground, the Lions quarterback did damage with arm and his legs, throwing for 71 yards and rushing for 44 more.

While the Lions did give up 36 points, they also played aggressive, opportunistic defense on the night forcing a pair of turnovers. Garrett Boxwell and Trevor L. Rogers each recovered a fumble to help the Lions defense. With the win Lone Tree improves to 2-1 on the year, 1-0 in district play and will next be in action Friday when they travel to 0-3 Cardinal of Eldon.
