A candidate seeking the Republican nomination for president stopped in Washington Tuesday morning. Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas, spoke at Cafe Dodici. Huckabee spoke of revitalizing the economy, his experience leading a state, and making America strong.

He proposes eliminating the IRS and current tax code, and instead implement a fair tax, a consumer tax. Under the proposal taxes would not be taken from paychecks, but when someone purchases something.

Huckabee was governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. He spoke of his leadership and starting as the only Republican in the state house. Huckabee asked those in the room to consider experience and leadership when selecting a candidate from the field, stating now may not be the best time to elect someone who has never held an elected office.
