An inaugural fundraiser held in Washington County this summer raised $60,000 for the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. The first Rock ‘n’ Ride bicycle event and banquet with silent auction was held in July. Dave Friese, who helped organize the event, explained the event was inspired by Kim Friese and Karen VanOsdol, who lost their lives to cancer.

Cyclists pedalled from Washington to Riverside and back in the morning and a dinner was held that evening at the KC Hall with a silent auction. Susan VanOsdol shared many people took part despite the rain and approximately 320 people attended the Rock ‘n’ Relax evening event.

Next year’s Rock ‘N’ Ride will be held July 9th.
