Demon nation got a taste of its new two-headed rushing attack Friday evening at Case Field. As heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Washington Demons (1-1 overall) hosted the Marion Indians (0-2 overall) in a non-district clash. Washington’s offense exploded for 509 yards of total offense, turning a 7-0 halftime advantage into a 42-12 victory.

A majority of Washington’s offense came on the ground, led by senior halfback Jack Giardino. Giardino carried the ball 18 times, collecting 239 yards, and scoring four second half touchdowns in the week 2 triumph.

Head football coach Garrison Carter says Giardino is the type of player you want to be successful, “He’s our emotional leader, he has put in so much time, and given so much blood, and sweat into this program.”

Sophomore Ryan Reighard stockpiled an additional 86 yards rushing for Washington and amassed 213 yards total in the victory.

After two football games, Washington leads Class 3A District 5 in rushing with 458 yards and touchdowns with eight. The Demons are back at Case Field this Friday, hosting the Clear Creek Amana Clippers (0-2 overall).
