Washington County now has 4.1 MegaWatts of installed solar energy. Ed Raber, director of Washington Economic Development Group, points out Washington County is number one in the state for solar with 22 percent of Iowa’s solar tax credits. He adds Washington and Washington County are number two nationally for watts of solar per capita, behind only Honolulu, Hawaii. The City of Washington has 1.3 MegaWatts of solar, or about 171 watts of PV solar per person. There are 53 agriculture customers, 14 businesses, 71 residential customers and eight small businesses with a total of 209 systems.
