Corn and soybeans in southeast Iowa are above the five-year average and the state’s rate of progress. In the area, 65 percent of corn is mature and 90 percent has dented while across the state only 49 percent is mature. At this time, 25 percent of Iowa’s corn is in excellent condition, 54 percent is good and 16 percent is fair. According to the USDA, Iowa’s seed corn harvest is wrapping up and corn harvested for grain has varying moisture content.

Fifty-five percent of soybeans in southeast Iowa are dropping leaves, ahead of the five-year average of 42 percent. And locally 83 percent of the soybean crop is coloring. Across Iowa, 21 percent of soybeans are in excellent condition, 55 percent are good and 19 percent are fair.
