A battle of early season undefeated teams takes place in Winfield tonight. The Winfield-Mount Unions Wolves (1-0 overall) welcome the Wapello Indians (1-0 overall) to town for their home opener.

W-MU enters tonight’s game after crushing the Iowa Valley Tigers (0-1 overall), 50-0, in Marego on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves held the Tigers to 127 yards of total offense, while W-MU amassed 401 yards offensively in the victory.

W-MU senior quarterback Kolt Rossiter will look to build on his week one performance. Rossiter completed nearly 86 percent of his passes (6-7), collecting 181 yards and throwing for three touchdowns in the win over the Tigers.

The Indians come into tonight’s game after a convincing week one triumph over the New London Tigers, 44-14. Junior Adrian Lanz will be an offensive player for the Wolves to watch out for tonight. Lanz rushed for 259 yards and two touchdowns during last week’s 30 point win over New London.

Last season’s meeting saw the Wolves edge the Indians, 8-6, in Wapello. Tonight’s clash is set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. at Winfield-Mount Union High School. Listen for results tomorrow morning on KCII.
