The early season frustrations for the WACO Warrior football team (1-2 overall) were laid to rest for at least one week. The Warriors collected 441 yards offensively, including 352 yards rushing, in a 52-35 victory over the New London Tigers Friday in Wayland.

Six of the Warriors’ seven touchdowns were scored by runs of 14 yards or fewer. Senior Bryce Achen led the WACO rushing attack, amassing 232 yards on 28 carries, scoring four touchdowns in the triumph.

The Warriors’ victory comes one week after they allowed 61 unanswered points in a 68-7 loss to the BGM Bears in Brooklyn.

The Warriors’ defense has struggled through the first third of the 2015 season. WACO has allowed 146 points in 12 quarters, an average of 12.1 points given up per quarter.

WACO travels to Keosauqua this week, visiting the Van Buren Warriors (0-3 overall). Van Buren won last year’s battle of the Warriors, 48-23, in Wayland.
