Washington’s fall clean up will be held next week. The City Council approved hosting a central site drop-off at the waste water treatment plant and yard waste center at 1065 West Buchanan Street. City Administrator Brent Hinson explained more services can be offered at one location than with curbside collection. Washington residents will be able to dispose of general junk, up to 100 pounds of construction materials, furniture, and household hazardous waste like paint. Appliances will be accepted for $5 and electronics at $10 each. The cleanup site will be open October 2nd from 4 to 7 p.m. and October 3rd from 9 a.m. to noon.

Items not accepted:
– household garbage
– concrete, brick and rock
– hazardous materials such as but no limted to: explosives, drugs, materials soaked in volatile chemicals
– tires and waste oil
– shingles
– latex paint (if paint is dried, cans can be disposed of in regular garbage)
– items from outside Washington City limits
