Very few teams in Class A football have lit up the scoreboard like the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves (3-0 overall). Entering week four of the season, W-MU has scored 136 points, the third most in Class A.

The Wolves’ points have come in a variety of ways. W-MU’s 11 rushing touchdowns account for 66 points. The Wolves added another 36 points on six receiving touchdowns, amassed 22 points on 11 successful two point conversions, scored six points on an interception returned for a touchdown and an additional six points on a punt return for a touchdown.

Senior Darren Hunter and junior Bryce Robinson are ranked second and third respectively in Class A District 6 in scoring this week. Hunter has scored 52 total points, 48 on eight rushing touchdowns and four on successful two-point conversions. Robinson has collected 38 points in three weeks, 18 on three rushing touchdowns, eight points on four made two-point conversions, and six points a piece for a single receiving touchdown and a return touchdown.

The Wolves scored 292 points total during last year’s 5-5 campaign, but only scored 62 points during the first three games of the season.

W-MU’s defense has also shined during the first three weeks of the season. The Wolves have forced more turnovers (9) than their opponents have scored points (6) during the first 12 quarters of the season. In total they’ve only allowed 6 points.

The Wolves return to the field this week hosting the Danville Bears (0-3) in a district showdown Friday evening.
