Winfield-Mt. Union ran their record to 2-0 on the young season with a rout of the Wapello Indians on Friday night 42-6.

The Wolves could do no wrong, racing out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter behind a 64 yard touchdown pass from Kolt Rossiter to Garret Baker to make it 6-0, the Wolves then went to the ground attack and Darren Hunter raced in from nine yards out, following a two point conversion WMU led 14-0. The Wolves were the only ones to find the board in the second quarter as Zach Davis hauled in Rossiter’s second scoring pass of the night leaving the score at 22-0 Wolves going into the half.

Winfield-Mt. Union put the game away in the third with a 20 spot. Darren Hunter sprinted 51 yards for a touchdown in the frame, he added to his total with a third rushing touchdown a few minutes later, this one from six yards out, and then completed a touchdown hat trick in the quarter, scoring on a four yard touchdown dive, pushing his game total to four and pushing the WMU lead to 42-6.

Hunter ended the game with 180 yards on the ground on 19 carries and his four touchdown runs. Rossiter was nine of 15 through the air for two touchdowns. Baker went over the 100 yard mark in receiving yards, hauling in five passes for 121 yards and a touchdown. With the win Winfield-Mt. Union improves to 2-0 on the year. The Wolves will next be in action on Friday when they travel to Cardinal of Eldon.
