A senior on the Columbus Wildcats boys’ cross country team earned all-conference honors during yesterday’s Southeast Iowa Super Conference meet at Cedarcrest Country Club in Columbus Junction. Josh Keller ran the hilly course in 17 minutes flat, the second fastest time in the field. Keller was only bested by Highland’s Keiffer Sexton, who placed first earlier in the week at the Mike Jay Invitational hosted by Columbus High School on the same course.

The top 15 finishers in Thursday’s conference meet earn all-conference honors.

On the girls’ side, Columbus senior Ashley Canny finished her conference cross county career as the 18th best runner in the field, clocking a time of 23:10.

Wildcat cross county coach Steve Reilly was please with how Keller and Canny finished their conference cross country careers. “I was happy for both Josh and Ashley.” Reilly said, “This was their last conference race and it was the best finish in their conference careers.”
