Temperatures have dipped into the 40’s already this October with a low of 39 degrees in the overnight hours Sunday. Brad Small, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, states frost in southeast Iowa usually occurs in the first couple weeks of October. He explains to have a frost the dew point below freezing and the temperature at the surface below freezing, while air temperature can still be above freezing.
