Warm and dry conditions last week allowed farmers across Iowa to harvest about one-quarter of the state’s corn for grain. In southeast Iowa, farmers are ahead of the state average and 68 percent of corn has been harvested for grain, ahead of the five-year average. Field fires due to the windy and dry conditions were reported across the state. Area fire departments responded to three field fires Monday, including 10 to 15 acres of corn on fire near Lone Tree.
