Dry conditions and strong wind gusts caused the National Weather Service to issue special weather statements Monday for the KCII-listening area. In the morning, a high fire danger statement was announced. Due to west to northwest winds at 20 to 30 miles per hour and low relative humidity values a heightened fire danger was present. The danger was mostly for agricultural fields with dry, unharvested crops.

At 10:36 a.m. Wellman Fire Department was requested to help with a tractor and field fire south of Holbrook in Iowa County. At 1:57 p.m. Wellman Fire Department was again paged out, with Keota Fire Department, Richland Fire Department, North Keokuk Fire Department and Wellman QRS for a cornfield fire. The fire was near Birch Avenue and 155th Street, southwest of Wellman.

Also, in the afternoon, with strong west to northwest winds with gusts over 40 miles per hour, an advisory was issued for blowing dust from recently harvested fields, which had the potential to limit visibility.

A tree fell in Washington at about 3:30 p.m. and pulled down a line. The tree was in the roadway near the intersection of West Jackson Street and South Marion Avenue. City crews and Windstream responded to the scene and cleared the street.
