Several KCII area teams were involved in the class 1A girls state qualifying meet at Seminole Valley in Cedar Rapids Thursday.

The girls team champion was Central Elkader with 47 points. The other two automatic girls team qualifiers were second place Starmont with 83 points and third place Iowa City Regina with 92 points. There were no girls state meet individual qualifiers from the KCII listening area in the event, with all being shut out of the top 15.
The top area finish came from Sigourney, who finished in 10th place as a team with their score of 286. Top finisher for the Savages was Summer Barthelman in 47th with a time of 22:59. Other Sigourney finishers included Madaline Berg 56th, Paige Thompson 69th, Lainey Graff 72nd, Lily Hammes 85th, Megan Montgomery 90th, and Sarina Gretter 101st.
Lone Tree was 11th in the team standings with their score of 291 points. The Lady Lions were led by Paige Doehrmann in 36th with a time of 22:29. Other Lone Tree finishers included Devyn Alt 63rd, Sydney Alt 64th, Chloe Jacque 76th, and Lexi Flake 91st.
Winfield-Mt. Union was 14th in the team standings with a score of 349 points. The Wolves were led in the meet by Cecilia Hemsworth in 35th with her time of 22:28. Other Winfield-Mt. Union runners included Whitney Vantiger in 79th, Isabella Mertens 88th, Kimberlee Warnstaff 97th, and Fionna Sparrow 106th.
WACO took 15th place as a team in the meet with their score of 419 points. Top finish for the Warriors came from Cheyenne Sedlacek in 61st with a time of 23:54. Other WACO runners included Michaela Shaffer 95th, Emily Thomson 109th, Deion Malloy 112th, and Brette Durham 113th.
Highland participated but did not have enough runners to post a team score. The top finisher for the Huskies was Kelsey Hora in 37th with a time of 22:41. Other Highland finishers included Zoe Mahler 38th, and Cheyann Adamson 104th.
Iowa Mennonite School also participated but did not have enough runners to post a team score. The top finisher for IMS was Mackenzie Gutierrez in 65th with a time of 24:17. Rachel Geyer finished in 94th place.
The next race on the cross country calendar is the state meet held in Fort Dodge on October 31st.
