The development of the KeWash Trailhead Project in Keota has received a big boost. A $75,000 REAP grant has been awarded to the City of Keota to further work on the project. REAP is a state program that invests in projects to enhance and protect Iowa’s natural resources.

The project is a combined effort by Keota Unlimited, the Keota Community Visioning Committee and the City of Keota who are working together to design the project.  The grant money will be used to purchase land needed for the project.

The trailhead will have a parking and picnic area with restrooms. It’s expected, when finished, it will provide safer and easier access for users of the trail.

Keota Unlimited is continuing to raise funds for the project, they will be holding a 5K Glow Run/Walk on October 24th. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. at Lagos Acres Country Club. The race begins at 6:30 p.m. with a soup supper to follow.
