The Lone Tree Lady Lion volleyball team begins the 2015 tournament trail at home Tuesday night hosting Cedar Valley Christian.

The Lady Lions enter Tuesday’s game with a 15-10 overall record, Lone Tree was 5-4 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference, good enough for a fourth place finish in league play. The Lions enter the postseason winners of three of their last four matches in the regular year. Last time out Lone Tree downed the Highland Huskies in four games 22-25, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-18. In that match the Lady Lions were led by Elena Sieverding with 19 kills, Morgyn Edwards finished with 25 assists and the Lone Tree defense was led by Sieverding with 38 digs, Hailey Comer with 33 and Liz Dodson with 23. For the season, Lone Tree is led by Sieverding with 217 kills, third best in the Super Conference, Edwards with 266 assists, sixth best in league play and Dodson with 301 digs, second best in the conference.

Cedar Valley Christian enters Tuesday’s match with a 5-21 overall record. The Huskies were 1-6 in the Tri-Rivers East, leaving them in fifth in their division. Cedar Valley Christian has lost five of their last seven matches entering Tuesday’s playoff contest. In their last regular season matches Thursday they were eliminated in the first round of the Tri-Rivers Conference Tournament with straight set losses to Bellevue Marquette Catholic 12-21 and 4-21 and Midland, Wyoming 8-21 and 14-21. On the year Cedar Valley Christian is led by Sophomore Maggie Cach with 101 kills, Cach also leads the Huskies with 88 assists, good for ninth in the Tri-Rivers, and Emma Slagle leads the way for the Huskies with 164 digs. The winner of Tuesday’s match advances to the second round of regionals to play Calamus-Wheatland on Tuesday, October 27th. Action between the Lady Lions and the Huskies begins at 7PM in Lone Tree.
