The battle atop the Class A District 6 standings continued Friday evening in Lone Tree. The Lions (4-2 overall; 3-1 Class A District 6) welcomed the WACO Warriors (3-3 overall; 3-1 Class A District 6) to town for a district battle. Lone Tree had two running backs rush for over 100 yards, led by senior Jared Hudson, helping the Lions to a 36-17 victory over the Warriors.

Hudson led Lone Tree with 191 yards rushing, finding the end zone three different times in the win. Senior Caleb Christian racked 110 yards rushing on just eight carries, an average of 13.8 yards per rush. Junior Trey Pierson scored two rushing touchdowns, collecting 61 yards on nine carries.

Defensively, Hudson led the way with seven total tackles and four tackles for loss. Sophomore Brock Smith came up with three-and-a-half total tackles and an interception. Junior Drake Holtz came up with a fumble recovery for the Lions.

The win pushes Lone Tree’s overall record to 4-2, improving to 3-1 in district play. The loss snaps WACO’s three game winning streak, dropping the Warriors to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in district action.

The Lions will travel to Packwood next Friday for a district showdown versus the Panthers (5-1 overall; 4-0 Class A District 6). WACO returns to Wayland to renew their rivalry against the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves (6-0 overall; 4-0 Class A District 6).
