The Mid-Prairie cross country coaching staff refers to the meet as “mini state” and the field at Saturday’s North Linn Invitational did not disappoint.

On the boys side of the event, seven of the 20 teams participating Saturday were ranked. The #3 ranked in class 2A Golden Hawk boys finished in third place with a team score of 113 points. #1 in class 2A Monticello took the team title with 69 points. #7 in class 3A Mount Pleasant was second with 91 points. Individual meet champion was Logan Murray from Mount Pleasant with his time of 16:08. Top finisher for the Mid-Prairie boys was Peyton Miller. The Golden Hawk sophomore finished in fifth place with a time of 16:57. Other Golden Hawk finishers included Ryan Errthum 12th, Floyd Evans 15th, Andrew Schwartz 20th, Ben Stone 61st, Quinn Schmidt 62nd, and Marshal Teets 79th.

The #7 ranked Mid-Prairie girls faced an even tougher field Saturday at North Linn with 10 of the 18 participating schools ranked in the latest poll. The Golden Hawks finished in eighth place with their score of 210 points. Team champion of the event was #1 ranked Monticello with 68 points. Individual meet champion was Madison Bach of Marion with her time of 18:50. Top Mid-Prairie finisher was Anna Hostetler who took 14th place with her time of 20:04. Other Golden Hawk finishers included Maddi Zahradnek in 36th, Greta Schmidt 44th, Hannah Van Roekel 58th, Kessa Jones 62nd, Kate Cavanagh 89th, and Shelby Zahradnek 97th.
