Iowa Mennonite School graduate Casey Perez is having a big sophomore year for the Hesston College volleyball team.

The Larks were a perfect 3-0 in the last week. Hesston scored a pair of wins at the Southeast Community College Triangular on Saturday, October 3rd. In straight sets Hesston dispatched Southeast Community College 25-20, 25-11 and 25-19. Perez led the way for the Larks in the match with 17 assists, Desi Newman racked up eight kills and Christy Swartzendruber finished with 13 digs.

Hesston finished action at the triangular by taking out Independence Community College in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-12. Perez again paced the Larks with a match high 27 assists. Kortney Cunningham had eight kills and Christy Swartzendruber 11 digs. On October 6th, Hesston hosted Independence Community College again and got the same result, a three game sweep by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-12. The Larks were led by 24 assists from Perez, seven kills apiece by Jacey Guy, Kortney Cunningham and Christy Swartzentdruber, while Emily McMichael finished with 17 digs.

Not only has Perez been leading the Hesston team, she finds herself on the leader board for all Kansas two year schools. Perez ranks seventh in assists per set with 8.24, that puts her at #32 in the entire country in the statistic. Perez also ranks #28 in digs per set and #34 in total digs. Following their 3-0 week the Hesston volleyball team is now 14-7 on the year, they are in action this weekend at the Des Moines Area Community College Invitational.
