The Sigourney High School is conducting a fundraising campaign to renovate their current weight room facilities.

The school district was recently the recipient of a large donation from MidWestOne bank toward the project. Sigourney MidWestOne Assistant Manager Jodi Greiner presented the Cobra Club organization with the first of two $2,500 checks last week.

Klynt Weber, boys strength training, weight room manager, assistant football coach and head boys track coach is helping to spearhead the project. Weber’s initial evaluation of the weight facilities in July of 2015 noted that cost for the entire renovation will be around $40,000. At this point $12,200 has been raised for the project. When the renovation is finished the facility will house five dual purpose stations capable of hosting bench press, parallel squat, power clean and other exercises. The floor will be covered with shock absorbent flooring for free weight drops. New dumbbells, leg curl machines and cable columns are also a part of the renovation. Weber states the goal behind the facility is an overhaul of the current facilities to ensure safety and state of the art weight training for all Sigourney student athletes.
