The name of the trooper who fired a shot following a chase from Cedar Rapids, through Johnson County and ending at a gas station in Riverside last week has been released. The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Division of Criminal Investigation announced Iowa State Trooper Jewel O’Rear was the trooper who discharged her state-issued service weapon in the incident. One shot was fired at the suspect vehicle’s driver’s side rear tire.

O’Rear is a 15 year veteran of the Department of Public Safety and has been a state trooper for seven years. Her interview and other facts from the investigation have been submitted to the Iowa Attorney General’s Office for review. O’Rear remains on duty for the Iowa State Patrol.

The chase resulted in the arrest of Tiffany Reed, Tia Reed and LaFonda Davis, all of St. Louis, Missouri. For information on the incident click here.
