What a difference a year has made for the WACO Warrior football team (3-2 overall; 3-0 Class A District 6). Another 300+ yard rushing performance helped WACO win their third straight games of the season, 47-14, in the Warriors’ homecoming game Friday.

Five games into this season, WACO has triple their win total from the 2014 season, and their defense is giving up an average of 19 points during their three game winning streak. WACO gave up an average a of 33.5 points per game during last year’s 1-8 campaign.

Senior Bryce Achen has been a major contributor during the Warrior’s first half of the season. He has rushed for a district leading 813 yards this season, an average of 163 yards per game. Achen’s 14 rushing touchdowns also tops the district.

WACO continues district play in Lone Tree this week, battling the Lions (3-2 overall; 2-1 Class A District 6). The Lions suffered their first district loss last week in Winfield, a 30-20 setback to the Wolves (5-0 overall; 3-0 Class A District 6).

The Lions won last years matchup, 34-18, in Wayland. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Lone Tree High School.
