Medicare has ranked home health care across the nation, and Washington County Public Health’s overall care from the home health agency is at 92 percent, above the Iowa average of 86 and national average of 84 percent. It was announced at this week’s board of health meeting that the agency received 3.5 stars out of five. Washington County Public Health’s home health care also ranked higher than average with 84 percent of patients reporting they could recommend the agency to family and friends.

The local agency was slightly below the national average when it came to three questions: how often the home health team gave care in a professional way, how well did the home health team communicate with patients, and did the home health team discuss medicine, pain and home safety with patients.
