A bond measure is on the ballot for all of the residents of Washington County this election. Residents will be voting on whether or not a $2 million bond referendum should be approved for a new building for Washington County Public Health. Steve Olson, chair of the building and finance committee for the Board of Health, shares he supports the project. He adds during fiscal year 2014 the department administered 3,500 immunizations, 900 dental appointments, home health care had 2,700 skilled nursing visits and 6,500 homemaker health aid visits.

Currently the department rents space in downtown Washington and has an annual line item of $50,000 for rent and utilities. Since 2005, Washington County Public Health has operated in four different locations spending $340,000 on rent. The total project cost is estimated to be $2.8 million and grants are being sought to help fund the building, which will be furnished and include a 60-stall parking lot.
