A Washington High School graduate has received a two-year Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps scholarship to attend the University of Northern Iowa. Jayme M. Edmund was awarded the scholarship, which is based on merit basis, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership abilities and more. Recipients are enrolled as members of the Army ROTC battalion at their colleges and the scholarship includes tuition and fees, as well as an annual book allowance. When the students graduate they will receive a bachelor’s degree and a commission as a second lieutenant in the Army, they also incur a military service obligation of eight years.

Edmund graduated from Washington High School in 2011 and is the son of Jerry and Sharon Edmund of Washington.
