In just a few days super heroes, witches, and goblins will trick-or-treat around the area. The Washington Public Library is hosting their second annual Festival of the Pumpkins, Jolisa Weidner explains people are still welcome to drop off their decorated or painted pumpkins. They just ask that they not be carved. The winner of the children’s division will be the grand marshal of trick-or-treat around the square Friday.

Michelle Redlinger, director of the Washington Chamber of Commerce, explains Friday’s events begin right at 5 p.m. with a count down and a parade of costumes around the square. Starting at 5:30 p.m. activities in the park and YMCA start including bounce houses, pony rides, hay rides and more, which are all free thanks to local businesses. She explains the event began as a safe option for families for Halloween.

Washington’s city-wide trick-or-treat will be held Saturday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
