A storm sewer study was conducted along West 3rd Street in Washington and engineer Leland Belding shared the findings at this week’s Washington City Council meeting. Belding said the system there needs to be redone to solve the flooding issues that occur following rains. He explained there are depth and slope issues, the pipes are under-sized and there aren’t enough storm water intakes.
The estimated cost of the project is about $900,000. City administrator Brent Hinson stated the funds for such a project are not currently available in the city’s budget. The council is currently focusing on in flow and infiltration issues throughout the city to address sewer issues.
