The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves volleyball team took third at the New London tournament on Saturday. WMU opened the day in pool play with a 21-19 and 21-1 win over Louisa-Muscatine.The Wolves followed that up with a second win, this one over English Valleys 21-15 and 21-14. WMU suffered their first loss of the day in their final pool play match, falling to New London 21-9 and 21-15. A second place finish in pool play pushed the Wolves into the semifinals where they met Highland. It was the Huskies who took the win 25-21 and 25-22 but the Wolves ended the day on a high note, taking the third place match from West Burlington in three games 20-25, 25-16 and 15-7 on the day WMU was led by Pearl Krieger-Coble with 23 kills, Caitlin Jamison had 54 assists and Cassidy Lennie led the defense with 46 digs. After the tournament Winfield-Mt. Union now stands at 15-14 on the year as they gear up for a road trip to Lone Tree tonight.
