A partnership with Washington County and Washington County Hospital and Clinics was discussed in a special workshop Thursday night. The Washington County Board of Supervisors met with representatives from WCHC including CEO Dennis Hunger, CFO Steve Sanders, and Scott Crist of UMB Bank.

Last week the supervisors failed to pass a resolution to partner with the county hospital on bonds that would save $6.2 million. Hunger explained they’ll use the savings to continue to improve the hospital and expand services.

The supervisors said they had heard from a number of people regarding the failed resolution, to which Supervisor Richard Young said to the board to think about the whole district and all of the people, not just those who contact them.

Supervisor Jack Seward, who voted in favor, added the savings will stay in the county. Stan Stoops, Bob Yoder and Abe Miller had voted the resolution down last week. No action was taken Thursday night and the supervisors will revisit the resolution in regular session.
