A Thanksgiving week tradition in Washington County is turning a decade old next weekend. The 10th annual Jingle Bell 5K and one mile 1-mile fun run is scheduled for next Saturday in downtown Washington.

Steve Roth, organizer of the Jingle Bell Fun Run, says the event started as a fundraiser for several entities in Washington County. This year’s event is helping the Big Red Radio raise food donations for our 13th Caring Christmas food drive. He adds those who register by Monday at noon will have a chance to get a memento from the event. “We have t-shirts and the t-shirts are always cool,” Roth said, “They are Christmas themed, my wife and daughter put it together, and they are really cool.”

The cost of the run is $25. Roth said people can register for the event at the Washington YMCA or you can call him at 653-1727, and he will send you an entry form.
