Nearly all of Iowa’s corn has been harvested. According to the USDA, 93 percent of Iowa’s corn has been harvested for grain, and farmers in southeast Iowa are slightly ahead with 94 percent harvested. The rate of harvest puts the crop nine days ahead of last year and two days ahead of the five-year average.

Grain movement from farm to elevator was rated at 51 percent moderate to heavy with some reports of corn piles on the ground at ethanol plants and elevators. At this time, on-farm grain storage is 31 percent short, 66 percent adequate and 14 percent surplus, while off-farm grain storage is only 22 percent short, 74 percent adequate and four percent surplus.

Also, the soybean crop is one week ahead of last year with 98 percent harvested in Iowa.
