As the No. 12 ranked Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team gets ready for second round playoff action on the field Monday night, it should be noted the team and it’s individuals are also doing some work in the record books.

With their first round playoff win against Prairie City Monroe on Wednesday, the Golden Hawks collected their eighth win of the year, matching the third highest win total for a single season in school history. This year’s team is also sixth in school history with 3,399 total yards gained. The Mid-Prairie rushing attack has rolled up 2,313 yards on the season, seventh most in school history.

Individual Golden Hawks climbing the all time statistical ladders include Ryan Cortum. The Golden Hawk quarterback is tied for fourth in program history with his 23 career passing touchdowns. He stands even with former Golden Hawk Justin Harland. Cortum is also tied for fourth all-time on the season passing touchdown list with the nine he has thrown in 2015. He shares that spot with Terry Beckley from 1976, Dallas Duwa from 1979 and 1980, Justin Harland from 2006, Mark Aldeman from 2009, and Reid Miller from 2012. Cortum is seventh all time with 1,897 career passing yards. Cortum has also completed 111 passes in his career, eighth best.

Levi Duwa is tied for third in program history with seven career touchdown receptions. Duwa currently holds that spot with Tyler Griffith from 2002.

Blake Schwartz is in ninth place on the Mid-Prairie season receiving yards list with 505 he has accumulated in 2015.

The No. 12, 8-2 Mid-Prairie football team will next be in action Monday night in the second round of the class 2A playoffs when they travel to Albia to battle the No. 1 Blue Demons.
