As shotgun hunting season begins the Iowa Department of Natural Resources urges hunters to keep safety in mind. Basic safety tips include, the only time your finger should be on the trigger is the moment you are about to shoot. At all times keep your personal safety and the safety of others on your mind. Wearing at least one visable article of clothing in the color of blaze orange is required at all times. While these tips seem simple enough, this year the DNR has, as of November 25th, received reports of at least one injury and one instance of property damage from hunters in earlier seasons in the state.
