Influenza is in Iowa and some people have been hospitalized for treatment. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, three people have been hospitalized in Iowa. Currently, flu’s geographic spread across the state is local with activity minimal. In addition to influenza, there have been 43 cases of rhinovirus or enterovirus detected.

IDPH recommends getting an annual flu vaccination to prevent contracting the virus. Symptoms of the flu include fever, headache, tiredness, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion and body aches with the illness usually lasting two to seven days.
