The Iowa Mennonite School girls basketball season opened the new year on the road, falling to the No. 15 in class 3A Mediapolis Bullettes 63-16.

Mediapolis took control of the game early, opening the contest on a 16-2 run. The Bullettes parlayed that into a 39-8 halftime lead. Despite halftime adjustments IMS was unable to climb back into the game. On the night Iowa Mennonite was led by senior Jess Bender and her 10 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots. Alyssa Hershberger ended the game with six rebounds, Avery Blauvelt had two steals and Suzanna Yoder finished with two assists. With the loss IMS is now 0-1 on the early season, they will be back in action Tuesday when they host Wapello.
