Hospice of Washington County had a visitor from Washington D.C. Tuesday. Representative Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa) stopped by their offices in Washington Tuesday afternoon. Jean Wollenberg explained in the last fiscal year the organization served 146 patients with an average length of stay of 43 days. She also explained the group does fundraisers throughout the year, hosts a community memorial service and gave a special thank you to veterans on Veterans Day.

Wollenberg and Loebsack also spoke of Governor Terry Branstad’s push for Medicaid Modernization. Wollenberg explains she’s received contracts but they don’t include terms and conditions. Loebsack added he’ll do what he can to delay it so that it is implemented correctly.

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care month.
