Faced with declining enrollments, two KCII area football teams are preparing to leave 11-man football.

Lone Tree Lion head football coach Chad Shield told KCII Sports the topic was discuss and agreed upon during last week’s Board of Education meeting. Shield discussed the move further with the parents and student athletes during Lone Tree’s end of the season banquet Sunday evening.

A similar move is set to be voted upon at tonight’s meeting of the WACO Board of Education. The Warriors had 20 kids come out for football during the 2015 season. WACO finished the 2015 campaign with a 3-6 overall mark.

The meeting is set to commence at 6:30 p.m. inside the media center of the WACO Junior/Senior High School.
