The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team is hosting the unofficial kickoff to the winter sports season tonight with their basketball jamboree.

Eight teams will be participating in tonight’s action at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. Participating from the KCII listening area will be Washington, Iowa Mennonite School, Highland and Mid-Prairie. Washington finished last season with a 6-16 overall record. The Demons open up the evening at 5:30 when they match up with Clear Creek Amana. Following the Demons, Durant will take on Ottumwa at 6:15. At 7, IMS is on the floor when they battle North Cedar. IMS is under the direction of first year coach Kari Heusinkveld. IMS finished last year with an overall record 5-18. The nightcap will see an area contest between Highland and Mid-Prairie tip at 7:45. The Golden Hawks wrapped up last year with a 15-8 overall record, the Huskies were also 15-8 last season.

All contests will be one half in length.
