After struggling early in the season, the Iowa Western Community College Reivers football team (9-2 overall) have started hitting their winning stride again. The 2014 National Junior College Athletic Associations National Championship runner up dropped it’s first two games of the year before rattling off nine straight wins to end the regular season.

Recent Washington graduate Tommy Peterson worked his way onto the field during the Reivers game with the Garden City on October 3, and has played in every game since for Iowa Western at left tackle. He has helped the Rievers average over 35 points per game over the final six weeks of the season.

The Reivers regular season culminated on November 7, winning 31-3 over the Iowa Central Community College Tritons. The victory helped Iowa Western Community College capture the Kinney Cup for a sixth straight season. The Kinney Cup is named for two Dan Kinneys, the presidents of Iowa Western (dad) and Iowa Central (son).

The Reivers are now off until December 6 when they will play in the Graphic Edge Bowl. The opponent for the game is yet to be determined. The game is set to be played at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
