A recent graduate of Washington Community Schools is preparing for his first collegiate postseason football game next month in Cedar Falls. After dropping their first two games of the year, the Iowa Western Community College Reivers football team rattled off nine straight victories to end the regular season, 9-2. The Reivers are ranked No. 5 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association poll.

Tommy Peterson, who graduated in May from Washington High School, has been the starting left tackle for the Reivers’ football team since Iowa Western’s October 3 contest versus Garden City. Peterson helped the Reivers’ offense average 35 points during the final six games of the regular season.

Iowa Western Community College was rewarded for their 9-2 regular season with a spot in the Graphic Edge Bowl on Saturday, December 6, at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. The Reivers are set to face the  No. 17 Georgia Military Bulldogs. The Bulldogs went through their regular season schedule with eight wins and three losses, winning their final four games of the regular season.

The Graphic Edge Bowl is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 6, at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
