Soybean producers had a record harvest this fall. That nation’s record soybean crop was set in 2005, according to the United States Department of Agriculture, this year’s crop is about 25 million bushels higher at about four billion bushels. According to the Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa’s yields were estimated at 56 bushels per acre. Meghan Anderson, field agronomist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, told KCII News that soybean yields in Washington County were about 55 bushels per acre. Iowa’s farmers harvested about 550 million bushels of soybeans. Final production numbers are released in January.
