The fall sports season has come and gone in Washington, and several Demon student athletes shined in the classroom amidst their athletic commitments. Twenty-nine Washington students were honored with either academic all-conference or all-district selections during the fall sports campaign. Student athletes on the academic all-conference/district team must be a junior or senior in high school with a grade point average above 3.25.

Washington’s football team had 10 players, two managers, and a cheerleader meet the academic all-district requirements. Football players who met this standard include: Jack Giardino, Ethan Hansen, Bryce Rickey, Kyle Anderson, Jack Carter, John Dillion, Will Marek, Trey Van Weelden, and Aaron Vittetoe. The pair of managers who earned the t honor are Emily Hora and Alyk Williams. The academic all-district cheerleader for Washington was Alexey England. Washington’s football season ended with an overall record of 7-3, making the Class 3A playoffs for the fourth straight season.

The Demon volleyball team brought home the most academic all-conference honors this fall. Ten girls posted grade point averages above 3.25 including: McKenna Brinning, Morgan Kimball, Shelby Mineart, Shannon Powers, Amber Salow, Joceline Spenner, Emma Stout, Victoria Barber, Jessie Bucholz, and Alexis Turner. Washington’s volleyball team ended their season with a record of 6-25.

Finally, Washington’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams had eight members make the academic all-conference fraternity. Among them are Maddy Hinrichsen, Alexandria Redlinger, Brynna DeLong, Emme Keith, Addie Pacha, Emma Wood, Kyle Schindler, and Colin Zear. Keith finished as the cross country teams lone all-conference cross country runner.
