The YMCA of Washington County has asked for $10,000 from the county to help support their new facility initiative. At their meeting Tuesday morning, the board of supervisors discussed the contribution, supervisor chairman Jack Seward explained the item will be on the agenda next week for action. Each supervisor stated they’d received feedback from constituents favorable for the project.

The YMCA of Washington County is raising funds to build a $10.8 million facility on West 5th Street. The request was made of the county so that the YMCA can have a competitive application for a Vision Iowa grant. The original YMCA was constructed in downtown Washington in 1924. The new facility would offer more space for programs and meet ADA standards.
