Veterans across the United States will be honored and remembered Wednesday during Veterans Day. This year is the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. In Washington, veterans and their families are invited to a free dinner hosted by the Washington County Military Museum and American Legion Post #29. First Sergeant J. “Mac” McDonald of Tama retired from active duty in the Marine Corps and now a pastor, will be the keynote speaker. McDonald served in Operation Desert Storm in the liberation of Kuwait.

Rachel Nicola with the museum says, we as citizens of the United States can never say thank you enough to the veterans for their service and this is an opportunity to do so and recognize what they gave for our freedom.

The free-will donation dinner will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington at 6 p.m. November 11th.
