Those looking for a family activity today are encouraged to create a float for Friday’s lighted holiday parade that goes through downtown Washington. Director of Main Street Washington, Sarah Sadrakula encourages area businesses, clubs and families to enter the parade. She shares the three rules for floats are it has to be Christmas themed, it has to be lit and it can’t have a representation of Santa on it. The winner of last year’s parade had a vintage pickup truck covered in lights.

Those who enter the parade are asked to arrive downtown at 5 p.m. Friday and the parade begins at 6 p.m. Sadrakula shares Santa will be in attendance as he will help light up the square before the parade starts.

Join the KCII Big Red Radio in downtown Washington for the holiday event. There will be prizes awarded for first, second and third place finishers in the parade.
